Jennifer Lopez batted off a question about her marriage to Ben Affleck during a press conference.

The actor and singer was at the conference in Mexico City, promoting her new Netflix film Atlas, when she was asked about the state of her relationship. The question comes following various outlets speculating that the two may be headed for divorce.

In a video from the press conference, which has since been shared across social media, a reporter uses the event to ask the ‘Jenny From The Block’ singer about “the truth of the situation”.

“Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumours,” they asked (via AOL). “What is the truth?”

Following the question, Lopez’s co-star in the film, Simu Liu, interjected and shut down the reporter. “Ok, we’re not doing that,” Liu said. “Thank you so much guys, we really appreciate it. Thank you. Don’t come in with that energy please.”

J.Lo then chimed in, and while not sharing any details about her marriage, leant into the microphone, looking at the reporter and saying that they should “ know better than that.”

While the moment was left there, Liu did seem to make reference to the awkward question put forward at the end of the conference, subtly hinting that the focus should be on Lopez’s talents as a producer.

“If I could just end on one thing,” the Canadian actor and Barbie star began.

“Jen is a producer on this movie and the reason why I am here, and why Sterling [K Brown] was in this beautiful movie, is because Jen cares. And Jen cares about things like representation and diversity, and she’s a boss.”

Outlets including RTE have highlighted that the ‘On The Floor’ singer has been promoting her latest film without her husband by her side, and he was also absent from the 2024 Met Gala, despite Lopez being a co-chairwoman.

The two were previously engaged before splitting in 2004. They then got back together and married in July 2022, and their relationship was documented in part when Lopez shared the documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

Atlas is set for release on Netflix tomorrow (May 24).

In other J.Lo news, the singer and actor recently cancelled a handful of shows from her upcoming 2024 ‘This Is Me… Now’ tour.

Elsewhere, The Bear star Ayo Edebiri has said that Lopez was “very chill” about their potential feud when they appeared on Saturday Night Live together this year.

In 2020, Edebiri appeared on an episode of the Scam Goddess podcast, where she described Lopez’s career as “one long scam,” saying the musician “thinks that she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs.” The Bear actor also agreed with host Laci Mosley’s claim that Lopez “can’t sing.”

Then, as it was announced that Edebiri would be hosting SNL – and accompanied by Lopez as a musical guest – the comments resurfaced, leading her to look back at the interview.

Talking to Vanity Fair, she said any talk of a beef was absurd because “that would be like Mr. Bean and Mick Jagger beefing, and I’m obviously Mr. Bean. She’s J.Lo! She was very chill and nice about it.”
