Hilton Hotels & Resorts is about to triple down on the popularity of Portugal tourism with the announcement of three new hotels coming soon to the trendy travel destination.
Let’s take a look at the three different Hilton brands adding a new addition to the Portuguese family in 2025 and 2026.
Double Tree by Hilton Lisbon Airport
Airport hotels are very popular with travelers as they make an easy place to either stay the first night after arriving in the country or even to be strategically positioned near the airport for an early morning flight.
This new Double Tree by Hilton will be located conveniently near Lisbon Airport and will provide travelers with easy access to Lisbon Airport.
The hotel is being designed to cater to both vacation travelers and business guests. It will feature a restaurant, bar and breakfast area along with plenty of meeting space for conferences and events.
With 199 hotel rooms and 20 suites, the new hotel is scheduled to open next year and of course, will provide guests with its signature check-in chocolate chip cookies.
Santo André Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
The Santo André Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will also open next year in Portugal.
It will be Hilton’s first hotel property in the Santiago do Cacém region located along the Atlantic coastline south of Lisbon.
This boutique style hotel oceanfront hotel is being created as an escape to the authentic coastline of Portugal.
It will only have 44 rooms, for a small resort style feel, a restaurant and bar along with a gym and rooftop pool with awe inspiring views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina
Hilton’s relatively new Canopy brand is introducing a new hotel in Portugal slated to open in 2026.
It will be perched on the Algarve coastline west of Faro in the town of Vilamoura.
The marina is one of the largest in the entire country of Portugal and the area is well known for great restaurants and even nearby resort style golf courses.
The resort style property will have 155 rooms and will provide guests with a restaurant, bar, spa, outdoor pool and fitness center.
It will also offer the popular Canopy Central amenity. This is what Hilton calls their central space for guests, day to night. From reception to retreat and with food and drink all day, each flexible zone flows seamlessly into the next, adapting to meet the needs of guests throughout their stay.
Why Portugal?
Hilton is building it up its presence in Portugal as the country continues to grow in popularity with travelers, especially due to its relative affordability as a vacation travel destination.
“Last year tourist numbers soared to record highs in Portugal and with demand expected to continue, it’s an incredibly attractive hotel investment market,” said Hilton Senior Vice President, Development for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Patrick Fitzgibbon in a news story on the new hotel properties. “We’re thrilled to have signed three new properties across three of our world-class brands, further expanding our Portuguese portfolio of more than 20 hotels. Standing strong as a popular destination known for its warm and inviting culture, beautiful landscapes and fantastic food and drink, we are proud to be further enhancing the range of options for travelers in Portugal.”
Portugal has also become very popular with people looking to relocate to the country for second citizenship or even to take advantage of the country’s very liberal digital nomad visa policy.
Experts believe that Portugal will continue to be a very popular international travel destination in Europe for travelers from all around the world for many more years to come.
