Capcom shared a surprise tease of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster last week. The game is a remaster of the 2006 zombie classic Dead Rising, and you don’t even have to wait that long to get your hands on it.

The Dead Rising remake is coming out September 18, 2024, so just a few months away. The original game followed dirtbag photojournalist Frank West, trapped in a zombie-infested shopping mall. A rescue helicopter will get him in three days, and the game features a timer that ticks down as you play, so you’ve only got a limited amount of time to do all the quests you want.

The Xbox 360 exclusive featured breakable weapons that zombie games are now known for. You could pick up many ordinary items you’d expect to find around an American shopping mall, like a cactus or a carton of canned drinks. The sequel added combinable weapons, such as a safety cone and spray paint. These can be combined to create a new weapon, the air horn. Or, you can combine a bow and arrow with dynamite to create the blam bow. Each weapon broke after a certain amount of hits or had to be discarded when it ran out of ammo, another feature modern zombie games like Dead Island and Dying Light use.

There were also lots of neat gameplay tricks you could pull off, like heating a frying pan on a stove to make it do extra damage. There were also different costumes players could outfit Frank in that would confer different bonuses.

The Dead Island remake will be coming with some quality of life features and updated graphics, running on the RE engine.
