Sony has confirmed God Of War Ragnarok is finally coming to PC, but players will need a PlayStation Network account.

God Of War Ragnarok was first released in November 2022 for PlayStation consoles and went on to rack up numerous awards.

It has now been confirmed the game will launch on PC September 19. God Of War Ragnarok will also include all post-launch updates, including the New Game+ mode and the Valhalla DLC.

However, it’s not all good news for PC players. According to a blog post announcing the release, a PlayStation Network account is required to play the game. There’s a similar message on Ragnarok’s Steam page.

Earlier this year, Sony updated the conditions for the PC version of Helldivers 2, meaning players would need a PSN account to continue playing, even though the service remains unavailable in over a hundred different countries. Following backlash, Sony reversed the decision.

The PC launch of Ghost Of Tsushima was also impacted by Sony’s insistence players link their game to a PSN account, with the game unavailable from digital retailers in nearly 200 countries that aren’t serviced by the PSN service.

“Account linking plays a critical role in protecting our players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games. This is our main way to protect players from griefing and abuse by enabling the banning of players that engage in that type of behaviour. It also allows those players that have been banned the right to appeal,” explained Sony in a post on Steam. However, God Of War Ragnarok is a single-player game, so those safety features don’t really apply.

In other news, Bloober Team and Konami have finally confirmed the release date for the Silent Hill 2 Remake.

The game will be released October 8 via PS5 and PC but to help lessen the wait, fans have also been treated to a 13-minute gameplay video that takes place in the streets of Silent Hill and the dilapidated Brookhaven Hospital, while a new trailer includes scenes with Angela and the Otherworld.
