The US presidential election is approaching in November. Harris is the Democratic candidate – having replaced Joe Biden on July 22 – running against Donald Trump as the Republican option.
Last week – following the first debate between Harris and Trump – Swift told fans in that she will be voting for the current Vice President. She explained it was “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” and believed more can be accomplished in the US “if we are led by calm and not chaos”.
While on the red carpet for the LA premiere of his upcoming film Wolfs, Clooney backed Swift’s choice, calling it “beautiful”, while talking to the Associated Press. “What a beautiful thing to do,” he continued. “She’s a real phenomenon right now and it’s exciting to see all these young people really engaged in the national discourse. I think it’s exciting, and I’m very excited to see her engaged.”

Clooney endorsed Harris back in July, telling CNN: “President Biden has shown what true leadership is. He’s saving democracy once again. We’re all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest.”
‘Midnights’ singer Swift directly caused a 500 per cent spike in voter registration after showing her support for Harris. According to CNN, nearly half a million people visited Vote.gov directly from the link Swift shared within 24 hours of her post – up from around 30,000 site visitors a day.
Swift’s endorsement came weeks after Trump shared AI images implying he had the support of Swift and her fans, the Swifties. On X/Twitter, he tweeted photos of women wearing shirts with the slogan “Swifties For Trump” and a poster where Swift is dressed up as Uncle Sam, reading: “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump”. The controversial business mogul has since denied creating the images.
Megan Thee Stallion, Quavo, Charli xcx, Beyoncé, P!nk, Bon Iver, and more have also publicly sided with Harris.
Recently, Swift took home seven of the 10 awards she was nominated for at the 2024 MTV VMAs. She also won the night’s biggest award, Video Of The Year, making her the only artist to ever take home the prize three years in a row.
She was awarded Song of the Summer, Best Collaboration, Best Direction and Best Editing for ‘Fortnight’ – the Post Malone-assisted single from her most recent album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
In other news, Vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz shouted out “fellow cat owner Taylor Swift” at a Wisconsin rally, which is a nod to her original endorsement post.
Meanwhile, Swifties reacted to Trump tweeting, “I hate Taylor Swift,” from his Truth Social account.
