At long last, a new mainline Gears Of War title has been revealed – check out the official announcement below.
Today (June 9), Xbox closed out its Xbox Games Showcase 2024 with the chilling and gripping cinematic trailer for Gears Of War: E-Day.
Finally confirmed after being rumoured for months, E-Day is set 14 years before the first Gears game takes place, and “tells the story of the first Locust emergence on Sera.” It will once again feature Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, and has been billed as an origin story.

A release date has yet to be announced for Gears Of War: E-Day, but has been confirmed for release on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The official game description reads: “Experience the brutal horror of Emergence Day through the eyes of Marcus Fenix in the origin story of one of gaming’s most acclaimed sagas. Fourteen years before Gears of War, war heroes Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return home to face a new nightmare: the Locust Horde. These subterranean monsters, grotesque and relentless, erupt from below, laying siege on humanity itself.”
Gears Of War: E-Day will mark the first Gears title since 2019’s Gears 5. E-Day is also the latest development in The Coalition’s plans to expand the universe of Gears Of War. 2022 saw Netflix confirm it had partnered with The Coalition to release a number of Gears Of War projects, including a live action film however updates have been few and far between ever since.
