Fortnite players have quickly become obsessed with a new, mysterious character known as the Wanderer.

The Wanderer first started appearing in Fortnite yesterday (June 25) and has been spotted at several different locations around the Island including the Estate Station, Placid Pumps and Coastal Comms.

However, the hooded figure disappears as soon as a player gets too close and only seems to spawn once per match. Not much is known about the Wanderer but he has featured in recent Fortnite lore. Following the defeat of Zeus at the end of Chapter 5 Season 2, the Oracle warned players that the Wanderer was drawing near, but hope would guide them (via the fan-made Fortnite Wiki).

A figure who looked like the Wanderer was also seen at the start of Chapter 5 Season 3, appearing as part of Megalo Don’s Wasteland Warriors. Broadcasts from Megalo Don warn players not to look under the Wanderer’s hood “as it would be a sight that insignificant minds would not be able to bear”. An upcoming quest also has the title Beware The Wanderer, with some players convinced the Wanderer is something to do with the Shapeless Man.

Whatever the future holds for the Wanderer and Fortnite lore, players are obsessed with this new mysterious character.

As well as the introduction of The Wanderer, Fortnite recently added Metallica as headliners of Fortnite Festival. The latest chapter of the Fortnite music game saw the iconic metal band head up an immersive experience, while players can still take part in a music-based battle royale with the PvP Battle Stage. Metallica-inspired guitars can also be used as weapons while the Loot Island has taken heavy inspiration from the band’s recent M72 world tour.

In other news, a new rumour suggests Sony could be working on technology that will allow some PS3 games to run natively on a PS5 without the need to stream them.
