Square Enix has officially confirmed the launch date for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second game in the Final Fantasy VII reboot trilogy. It will launch on February 29, 2024 for PS5. Following 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake release, Rebirth will continue the story with Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Red XIII, and Aerith as they leave Midgar.

While the Rebirth installment of this series was announced in early 2022, little was shown to gamers for quite some time. Square Enix finally revealed gameplay footage later in the year however. With today’s announcement during Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play event, gamers were treated to even more gameplay footage. Along with the reveal of new characters to be introduced when the titles arrives.

This includes confirmation of the long-suspected arrival of the fan-favorite Vincent Valentine, who is shown briefly in today’s trailer. Cait Sith also makes an appearance. Confirmed to be a playable character that can be added to your party no less. That shouldn’t be surprising though, given Cait Sith was playable in the original game. There’s also some additional footage of Yuffie, Sephiroth, Zack and other familiar characters.
