The film is set to be released worldwide on July 25, and was co-written by Ryan Reynolds, who reprises his role as the regenerative antihero, alongside Hugh Jackman as the mutant X-Men figure.

Deadpool & Wolverine will see both characters finally integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it serves as the latest entry in Phase Five of the saga, following on from November’s The Marvels.

The film is set some time after the events of Deadpool 2, with Wade Wilson (Reynolds) now trying to live a quiet life with his friends and family – until the TVA drag him into a multiverse-meddling mission. He soon crosses paths with a deadbeat and initially hostile Logan (Jackman) before joining forces to take on a common enemy.

In the newly released trailer, Wade tells Logan that he’s “waited a long time for this team-up,” before explaining that Wolverine is a renowned superhero in his world.

We’re then shown snippets of previous Wolverine and X-Men films, before Dafne Keen – who starred alongside Jackman in 2017’s Logan as a similar mutant named Laura – appears and gives a pep talk.

At the very end of the trailer, we get out first proper glimpse at Lady Deadpool’s full body, although her face is covered with a mask.

Fans have long speculated about the casting of Lady Deadpool, with Taylor Swift being one of the most popular guesses. However, the film’s director Shawn Levy moved to shut down that down in a recent interview.

One actor who definitely won’t be appearing in the film is Josh Brolin, who recently spoke about his disappointment at not being involved.

Elsewhere, Reynolds recently revealed that wrapping production on the film left him feeling depressed. He also described it as the best movie he’s ever made.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in cinemas on July 25.
