Hollywood actor Eric Roberts has claimed that his Oscar-winning sister Julia has banned him from talking about her in public.

Eric, who is known for his roles in The Dark Knight, The Expendables and Runaway Train and has amassed over 700 credits in total, is the older brother of the Pretty Woman and Notting Hill star, but the two have had a turbulent relationship.

His struggles with addiction led to a split from his partner Kelly Cunningham and Julia funded Cunningham’s legal fees during a custody battle for their daughter Emma, who is also a Hollywood star.

It is thought that they have repaired their relationship somewhat, but Eric has now stated during an appearance on the Still Here Hollywood podcast that discussing his sister is off limits.

“I love my sister, but I can’t talk about her. She don’t want to talk about it,” he said.

He added that Emma also has told him “not to talk about her”, but he could not resist heaping praise on her nevertheless.

“I’m in love with my daughter’s work these days. I can’t believe how great she’s become. I’m so proud of her I can’t see straight. Since her performance in [2023 romcom] Maybe I Do until right now, she overwhelms me with pride and just, ‘Oh my God, here she goes again.’ And I’m just so happy to be her dad because she’s kicking ass. And I’m so proud.”

Emma made headlines of her own last week when she claimed that having such famous relatives has caused her to be turned down for jobs in Hollywood in the past.

The American Horror Story and Madame Web star may have been labelled with the ‘nepo babies’ tag, alongside the assumption that she would be able to benefit early in her career due to her connections, but she says the opposite may have been true in her case.

“I’ve lost more jobs than I’ve gained from being in the business,” she told Flaunt magazine.

“People have opinions and sometimes maybe they’re not good opinions of people in your family. I’ve never gotten a job because of it, I know I definitely have lost a couple of jobs because of it.”

It is not the first time the younger Roberts, who is currently starring in Amazon’s Space Cadet, has addressed the issues surrounding the ‘nepo baby’ issue in recent weeks. In an appearance on the Table For Two podcast last month, she spoke about the difficulty of people assuming she has it easy and ignoring the failures that she has had to endure.
