Double Effective and a couple of Participant Productions have launched a 22-hour documentary collection that charts the making of Psychonauts 2.

Titled Double Fine PsychOdyssey, the 32-part collection follows Double Effective as it really works on platform-adventure recreation Psychonauts 2, which was launched in 2021. The collection is a follow-up to Double Effective Journey, which documented the creation of Damaged Age.

“Ten years after the discharge of their flagship online game Psychonauts, Double Effective Productions returns to its most celebrated franchise with Psychonauts 2,” reads the documentary’s description. “Now going through the strain to provide a worthy sequel, the studio should confront overly bold designs, poor morale, technical challenges and monetary woes, all throughout a turbulent span of time for the world.”

In a trailer printed for the documentary, Double Effective founder Tim Schafer is seen getting ready for the sport’s growth with workers. Later, it exhibits the studio making an attempt to navigate setbacks and the COVID-19 pandemic whereas growth continues.

“Congratulations to 2 Participant Productions on the discharge of their epic documentary in the present day,” tweeted Schafer. “Because of all people who allowed themselves to be filmed via all of the ups and downs of constructing Psychonauts 2. I hope all people on the market enjoys watching it as a lot as I did!”

Psychonauts 2 went on to be Double Effective’s best-selling recreation and was met with crucial success, receiving 5 stars in our personal evaluation of the sport.

In December, Schafer sat down with NME to debate his profession, Double Effective, and the creation of Psychonauts 2.

Psychonauts 2 was such a protracted haul,” recalled Schafer. “So many issues went incorrect, identical to the primary recreation – we misplaced our writer at one level. It was such a curler coaster, and at sure factors, it actually didn’t really feel prefer it was going to be good.”
