Donald Trump has been mocked for confusing presenter Jimmy Kimmel with Al Pacino.

Earlier this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the chat show host took a brand-new jab at the former president by jokingly describing the alleged hush money paid to adult star Stormy Daniels as a “legal expense”.

Trump quickly took to social media to fire back at Kimmel, but in the process of doing so, managed to confuse the Oscars host with acting legend Al Pacino in an error-filled rant.

“Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from TDS, commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, to the entire World by reading on air my TRUTH about how bad a job he was doing that night, right before he stumbled through announcing the biggest award of all, ‘Picture of the Year’,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He continued: “It was a CLASSIC CHOKE, one of the biggest ever in show business, and to top it off, he forgot to say the famous and mandatory line, ‘AND THE WINNER IS’. Instead he stammered around as he opened the envelope. Supposedly his wife, and even management, begged him not to do it, “DON’T READ HIS TRUTH, JIMMY, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS,” they said. He was made to look like a FOOL, which he is, and at the same time go down in Television History as the WORST HOST EVER OF THE ONCE VAUNTED ACADEMY AWARDS!”

While Kimmel was the host of the 96th Academy Awards, he did not announce the Best Picture award at the ceremony. That role went to The Godfather star and Oscar winner Al Pacino. The actor declared Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer as the winner in somewhat stilted fashion, but later explained that his uncertainty was caused by a change to the show’s format.

Trump was also wrong to claim that the Oscars suffered a “big ratings drop”, with the ceremony actually increasing its viewing figures for the third year running. Reviews of Kimmel’s performance as host were also highly positive.

The Biden-Harris campaign was quick to mock Trump’s multiple blunders, calling the 77-year-old “feeble and confused”.

This isn’t the first altercation between Trump and Kimmel. During this year’s Oscar ceremony, the chat show host fired back at the former president’s online criticism of him, quipping: “It’s it past your jail time?”

Kimmel was referring to Trump’s highly publicised arrest and the four criminal charges he is currently facing.
