Player trading in Diablo IV has currently been put on hold because of item and gold duplication exploit. If you login to battle.net and go to the Diablo IV game launcher page, you’ll be greeted with a message from Blizzard that says player-trading has been suspended. Blizzard is currently working on a fix for this issue.
So until that fix is implemented, trading between players isn’t possible. While some might argue that the in-game economy shouldn’t matter in this case, it’s clear that it partly breaks Blizzard’s vision for the game. Blizzard’s problem with this exploit is likely that players could easily duplicate all the gold they would ever need and simply trade it to other players. Eliminating any need to play content where you acquire it. Even if things do become quite expensive at later stages, you can see how this becomes a big problem.
The exploit also lets you duplicate items though. So one could just as easily duplicate an item they found that has a perfect stat roll. Then trade one to a friend. Obviously, Blizzard doesn’t want players doing either of these things.
Item duplication in Diablo IV is actionable
One could probably guess that the exploit for duplicating items and gold still works. Because trading is still turned off. That being said, we would recommend that you don’t engage in this exploit. Blizzard has sent out an official message on the forums that says it will “action accounts” who use the item and gold duplication exploit. Which probably means the accounts will be suspended. For how long is anyone’s guess. But it’s a risk that’s not worth taking if you value access to your battle.net account. Because Blizzard confirms it will be continuing to monitor things.
And there’s always the chance Blizzard catches you engaging in an exploit it told players not to. At the end of the day, it’s probably not worth it to get extra gold.
