Chris Samuels is getting into shape amid his divorce from Monique Samuels
In a video and series of photos shared to his Instagram page in recent months, the 45-year-old former NFL player, who acted as an offensive tackle for nine seasons with the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders, showed off his weight loss progress and answered questions from fans.
“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy,” Chris wrote in the caption of a May 28 photo, which featured a couple of photos of him standing on a bridge at what appeared to be a tropical resort.
And in the comments section of his post, Chris, who appeared alongside Monique on The Real Housewives of Potomac for four seasons and was also seen with her on Love & Marriage: D.C., responded to one of his followers, who asked, “What did you cut out to lose weight?”
“Beef, chicken, [and] pork,” he replied.
Then, when someone else wondered, “What do you eat instead of chicken, beef and pork,” Chris confirmed he’s been eating plenty of “fish.”
“Keep pushing!!!” he added on June 28, along with a video of himself working out his arms at a gym.
“The revenge body is ACTIVATED,” one person wrote after seeing the clip.
“Chris won’t be single for too long,” another added.
And a third said that Chris “looks like a totally different person.”
Chris also showed off his weight loss in a May 17 photo with his 8-year-old daughter, Milani.
“Long overdue! Date with the princess. She’s beautiful inside and outside. So blessed to have her,” he wrote in the caption of the post, which saw him looking slim in a white collared shirt and light jeans.
Following the post, Chris was flooded with praise.
“I swear you look 10 years younger!!!! What ever you are doing it’s blessing you!” one person shared.
“OMG Chris you look 20 years younger! Keep up the Great work,” another agreed.
Then, after a third person said they were feeling motivated by his fitness journey, another told him he looked “amazing.”
“Awww love this!! Chris you look good congrats on your weight loss journey!” said someone else.
Monique filed for divorce from Chris in April after 11 years of marriage and opened up about the decision on Instagram earlier this month.
“I just got to the point where I was in a place where I was so miserable,” she admitted, noting that she wasn’t putting all the blame on Chris.
“It was also just with myself, dealing with my own issues and trauma, understanding myself and why I respond and react the ways I do, going through my childhood,” she explained. “I’ve been doing some work, and it wasn’t easy. It’s not easy to look at the things about yourself that you don’t like, and you don’t love and say, ‘You know what, I’m going to love the bad parts of me, I’m going to love the good parts, which is easier. But even the things that I don’t like about myself, I have to really embrace that and love that … It has been quite a ride.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac season eight wrapped filming earlier this month and is expected to begin airing on Bravo sometime later this year.
