Forget the blender drinks (okay, maybe just a few).
I’m trading frozen margaritas for freshly brewed Lagers because this adults-only paradise has something no other resort in Mexico has: a full-blown brewery steps from the Caribbean Sea.
Of course, there will be plenty of delicious frozen margaritas, too (it’s Margaritaville, after all!). But the point is, no matter what you go with, you won’t be disappointed.
Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya, you’ve officially redefined my idea of a tropical vacation 🍻.
I’ll get more in-depth below, but if you only take away one thing from this, let it be this: a trip to Margaritaville Riviera Maya will melt your worries away with delicious food, gorgeous pools, a carefree vibe, and incredible beer brewed steps away from your room.
Since our visit in September, we’ve talked about the trip at least once a day, and we had such a great time.
After many magical moments at the resort, we’ve narrowed down 5 reasons you should add this property to your bucket list.

Adventure Is Brewing…
While many things stood out about this property, hands down, the most unique thing was the on-site Landshark brewery right on the oceanfront.
After you’ve been to a ton of all-inclusives, it can feel like they all blend together.
While you may be in a different place, with a different room and a slightly different vibe, the all-inclusive premise remains the same… all you can eat and drink next to a pool or on the beach.
Margaritaville Riviera Maya brought a refreshing take on the all-inclusive experience by adding an oceanfront brewery. A perk you won’t find anywhere else in Mexico!
In the image below, you can see the shark fin behind the poolside bar; that’s how close the brewery is to the ocean!
We were able to have a tasting here during a unique time – Oktoberfest.
So not only did we get to enjoy the delicious food and beer with an amazing view, but we also got to get in the holiday spirit with the specially crafted Oktoberfest beer that was completely unique to the resort.
In fact, every beer at the brewery is a one-of-a-kind, special to the resort.
The master brewer creates each beer on-site, and it is served directly out of the tank that it is created in, never leaving the property!
Unique All-Inclusive Vibe
Remember what I said about many all-inclusives feeling like they are the same?
You can forget all about that at Margaritaville. The resort is super new and feels really different from other properties.
Not only do you get that ‘Jimmy Buffet’ carefree vibe everywhere you look, but you also get amazing food, unique-to-the-resort drinks, and unlimited room service.
While we are used to being able to snack and drink to our heart’s content at an all-inclusive, Margaritaville Riviera Maya separates itself from the pack in a big way with its unique vibe.
The resort is adults-only as well, so you can forget about running into any crazy kiddos while you are trying to relax, get your party on, or work on your tan.
The BEST Foam Party In The Caribbean
Ok, ok… best is relative. But I’ll say this: we are not party people, but the foam party at Margaritaville is something completely different, and we had an absolute blast!
Every week, the resort puts on a huge show, ending with a giant foam party that will make you feel like a kid again (but with drinks 😃).
First, you’ll watch as the stage is set in the middle of the pool with a DJ. Dancers will come out, and it will feel like you are attending Carnival.
Then, the real fun begins!
Foam cannons go off, beach balls go airborne, drinks start flowing, and the music goes to the next level!
We had a ton of fun, especially for not being party people. We had a reservation we had to get to right after this and we were actually sad to have to leave!
Pro-tip: try not to breathe in the foam 😂
St. Somewhere: Where Stress Melts Away
If you’ve read a few of my articles, you may notice a theme… I really like to unwind when I travel.
And where better to do that than a spa?
But I have a confession. After visiting a real spa in Zurich a few years ago, most spas I have been to on this side of the world have felt like a letdown.
A massage is always a good thing, but I always find myself wishing more spas had a full ritual you could go through, like many of the spas in Europe.
You know… jump in the sauna, rinse off with cold water, jump in another sauna, jump in an ice bath, jump in the hot tub, take a nap on a hot stone chair. You get the point; it’s tough to find!
That’s why I was so pleased to find that Margaritaville Riviera Maya had a ritual for us to try! It’s such a rare treat in so many hotels, so we definitely took advantage.
Our ritual was a steam sauna, a cold water shower, a traditional sauna, a cold plunge, and then a few different water massage areas in a warmer pool, followed by rest time on a heated stone bed.
This was THE perfect way to start our day, and it was the most relaxed I felt during the whole trip.
Suns Out, Guns Out
This one always splits the room, but I really appreciate a property with a good gym!
I know, I know, most people don’t even want to think about the gym while on vacation, but I’ve found that getting a good workout in really makes the rest of the day that much more enjoyable.
Drinks are more guilt-free, and you start the day with a serotonin boost, the perfect addition to any vacation day.
The sad part about enjoying working out while traveling is that most hotel gyms are really disappointing. I won’t name names, but I was recently on a trip in Mexico where the hotel gym had about 10 pieces of equipment.
That’s not too shabby, really, but only 1 of them was functioning while the others were in complete disrepair.
Thankfully, Margaritaville Riviera Maya had a gym that exceeded expectations and allowed us to get our full normal routine in while on vacation.
