The ‘Brat’ pop star was added to the film’s main cast alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza), per Variety last Friday (August 30).

While Charli’s role has yet to be disclosed, the film’s synopsis has been revealed. “How far is too far? When fresh-faced Elliot (Hoffman) lands an exciting job for renowned artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde), his fantasies come true as Erika taps him to become her sexual muse,” it reads.

“But Elliot soon finds himself out of his depth as Erika takes him on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder. Featuring outrageous characters and a playful sense of humor, I Want Your Sex will upend expectations in a way that will both shock and delight!”

I Want Your Sex marks the first feature film from director Araki (Mysterious Skin, The Doom Generation) in over a decade after 2014’s White Bird In A Blizzard. Production for the film will officially commence in October.

This marks Charli’s latest film role, following her casting in the upcoming Faces of Death, a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name. Faces of Death wrapped up filming earlier this year – however, its release date has yet to be announced. It will mark her first-ever on-screen film role, following past voice acting for 2016’s The Angry Birds Movie and 2019’s UglyDolls.

Last week, XCX spoke about her viral “kamala IS brat” post, and what she expected would happen after sharing those three words on X (formerly Twitter).

“I obviously knew what I was doing,” she continued, though added that she didn’t expect the immense response to the tweet. “Did I think me talking about being a messy bitch and, like, partying and needing a Bic lighter and a pack of Marlboro Lights would end up on CNN? No.”

XCX also said that she doesn’t want to be “a political artist”. “I’m not Bob Dylan, and I’ve never pretended to be. My music is not political. Everything I do in my life feeds back into my art. Everything I say, wear, think, enjoy – it all funnels back into my art. Politics doesn’t feed my art.”

Elsewhere in her chat, Charli XCX also revealed that she has been working in the studio alongside the likes of Bon Iver and Danielle Haim. Speaking to the outlet, she said that the night prior to their chat, she had spent in the studio with the ‘Skinny Love’ hitmaker and the middle sister of the Haim group.

She also revealed that a “full-length other project,” is in the works, however, she didn’t confirm if it would be a remix album. “But it’s definitely in the bratosphere, so to speak,” she said.
