Chappell Roan has revealed that she’d rather “get arrested” than get into acting – see what the pop star had to say below about a potential career change below.

In a new interview with Interview Magazine, Roan was asked by Bowen Yang if she’d consider getting into acting to escape from the demands of touring and performing in music.

Roan emphatically shot that down, revealing that she had already been offered lead roles in movies, but turned them down. “I say this with peace, and love, and blessings. Actors are fucking crazy,” she said, before explaining that she gets weirded out by people in the film industry. “Like, I get so freaked out by film people. I’ve been asked in the past couple of weeks, like, ‘You want the lead in XYZ?’ and I’m like, ‘No.’”

She then shared that she had initially got into music as a way to “get my foot in the door” for acting, but backed out of the acting idea when she arrived in Los Angeles. “The industry is legitimately so scary, and it is so out of my control. I can put out music whenever I want. I don’t have to wait for a casting director to be like, ‘It would be great if we cast you, and then we’ll decide your schedule for the next three months.’”

Chappell Roan then admitted that she would consider a cameo role if it’s something “really specific and really silly.” She continued about not wanting to take on larger roles: “I’ve been trained how to act, but it’s the most stressful thing in the world to me. I would rather get arrested… because I know how to operate myself in jail.”

Most recently, Roan hit out at “weird” and “entitled” fans who have begun displaying “creepy” behaviour towards her. She said in a series of TikTok videos:“I don’t want whatever the fuck you think you’re supposed to be entitled to whenever you see a celebrity. I don’t give a fuck if you think it’s selfish of me to say no for a photo or for your time or for a hug. That’s not normal. That’s weird. It’s weird how people think that you know a person just ’cause you see them online or you listen to the art they make. That’s fucking weird. I’m allowed to say no to creepy behavior, okay?”

This isn’t the first time that Chappell Roan has spoken out against fans’ erratic behaviour amid her meteoric rise to fame. Last month, she revealed that she had made a promise to herself that she would quit music if “weird shit” started to affect her and her family.

The NME cover star released her debut studio album, ‘The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess’, last September to critical acclaim. In a four-star review, NME described it as “a display of Roan’s bold and brazen pen, where she places searing revelations alongside some deliciously cheeky choruses”.

Since then, she achieved her first UK Number One album almost a year after its release – something Elton John congratulated her on recently. Roan shared the single ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ this April. The song went to Number Four in the UK, and was covered by Sabrina Carpenter in the BBC Live Lounge in June.

Adele also praised the musician last week, calling her “absolutely amazing” during her show in Munich on August 14. “Chappell Roan is her name, yes?” Adele said. “I heard a song a little while ago at my birthday, and I loved it, and it was one of my friend’s playlists. And then, I went down a rabbit hole on Monday. All day long.”

She continued: “She is spectacular, and it turns out, she’s not just got one song. She’s got, like, seven fucking brilliant songs. I think she’s absolutely amazing. I’m very excited for her, but my friend also said she’s a bit scared. So, do what you gotta do, baby girl, but you’re phenomenal. Anyway, that’s all I’ve done this week is discover Chappell Roan.”
