Below Deck's Captain Lee Rosbach Reacts to Lindsay and Carl's "Out of the Blue" Split, Says He Received a Text From Carl After He Spoke of Him Officiating Wedding

Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke‘s potential wedding officiant, Below Deck star Captain Lee Rosbach, reacted to the Summer House couple’s shocking split on the latest episode of his podcast.

Months after Carl, 38, spoke of Lee, 73, acting as his and Lindsay’s officiant at their would-have-been wedding on Watch What Happens Live, Lee admitted he was caught off-guard by the news as he confirmed Carl has texted him in the days since he called off the engagement.

“Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard have called off their engagement. The two were set to get married in November, but Carl told Lindsay he couldn’t move forward with the wedding,” multiple sources shared with Entertainment Tonight on August 31.

Following the split, which reportedly played out for Summer House cameras, an insider told Us Weekly that Lindsay, 37, was “devastated” and “blindsided” by the breakup.

“He did call off the wedding on camera,” the source shared. “A normal person who loves someone wouldn’t break up with someone they love on camera,” they noted. “No matter how many problems you may have, you don’t do something like that on camera for the world to see their reaction.”

While Paige DeSorbo, 30, didn’t seem too surprised when she reacted to the split by thanking someone who mentioned her suspicions about the now-ex-couple’s romance, Lee didn’t see it coming.

“This came really out of the blue for me. I just got a text from [Carl] that I haven’t read yet. But I had no clue because we are supposed to be at the wedding in November — two days after my birthday,” Lee told co-host Sam DeCavalcanti on the September 6 episode of Salty With Captain Lee, per Us Weekly.

According to Lee, Lindsay and Carl were in the midst of planning their big day when the news broke.

“They already had the venue and a special block of rooms at the hotel for all of their guests that were flying in,” he added. “[Lindsay] already had her bachelorette party planned, and her hair and makeup run-through was done.”

“I don’t know [what happened]. Carl and I are close, and if I did know exactly what happened, I wouldn’t tell you. I don’t think it is rude unless he said, ‘Lee, this is OK for you to make public knowledge,’” he added.

Back in March, when Carl appeared on Watch What Happens Live, the Summer House cast member confirmed his and Lindsay’s wedding would be in Mexico before speaking of his possible officiant.

“We’re still working out some of the logistics, but we’re going to have a conversation with Captain Lee,” he revealed.

As Bravo fans may know, Lee and Carl grew close to one another after Carl’s older brother Curtis died of a drug overdose in 2020. Because Lee had suffered the tragic loss of his son, Josh, the previous year after his own battle with addiction, he was able to offer much-needed support to Carl.

Summer House season eight is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year or early next year.
