XDefiant, Ubisoft’s free-to-play answer to popular FPS series Call of Duty, could be getting some crossovers with other Ubisoft properties such as Rabbids and Assassin’s Creed according to a dataminer.
As spotted by Kotaku, according to Twitter user Rogue TX, the roadmap for XDefiant could contain material from The Crew and Far Cry, as well as the games mentioned above. DMCA takedowns have since removed the tweets.
It seems there could be four factions added to XDefiant over the next year: Assassins from Assassin’s Creed, Operators from Ghost Recon Breakpoint, GSG9 members from Rainbow Six Siege, and The Highwaymen from Far Cry: New Dawn. Factions from open-world driving game The Crew and party game Rabbids also could be added.
As well as these factions, new game modes such as capture the flag, team deathmatch, and infection could be coming to the shooter. If the datamine is accurate, then players will be able to participate in these modes with new weapons such as a sawed-off shotgun, Tommy Gun, FAMAS, turret, RC car, FAL, and G36 rifle.
Call of Duty is known for its crossovers, from expensive King Kong ones to The Boys. XDefiant, if these datamines are accurate, seems to be following in its footsteps by utilising the large array of IP under publisher and developer Ubisoft’s belt.
XDefiant launched with some matchmaking issues, following on from the game’s delayed release after it failed console quality tests. Player sentiment towards the game has been mixed, with some finding it “bland” and others finding it “casual fun”.
In other news, Valve’s unnanounced hero shooter Deadlock just recieved a trademark, adding further creedence to the rumours surrounding it.
