Billie Eilish has opened up about her body dysmorphia, sharing that “self-pleasure” has helped her feel “empowered and comfortable”.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the singer opened up about how masturbation has helped her navigate her “extreme body issues”. “TMI, but self-pleasure is an enormous, enormous part of my life, and a huge, huge help for me,” she began. “People should be jerking it, man. I can’t stress it enough, as somebody with extreme body issues and dysmorphia that I’ve had my entire life.”

Eilish went on to describe how masturbating in front of mirrors have helped her “have such a raw, deep connection to myself and my body, and have a love for my body that I have not really ever had.”

“I got to say, looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking ‘I look really good right now’ is so helpful,” she continued. “You can manufacture the situation you’re in to make sure you look good. You can make the light super dim, you can be in a specific outfit or in a specific position that’s more flattering.

“I have learned that looking at myself and watching myself feel pleasure has been an extreme help in loving myself and accepting myself, and feeling empowered and comfortable.”

She concluded: “I should have a Ph.D. in masturbation.”

The singer is gearing up to release her third studio album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’, which will arrive on May 17 this year.

Eilish will not be releasing any singles as part of the album rollout, and has revealed she wants fans to experience the record “all at once”.

“Finneas and I truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it,” the caption to her album announcement read. “Love you love you love you.”

However, the singer has previewed some tracks from the record at Coachella, including three songs: ‘L’Amour De Ma Vie’, ‘Chihiro’ and ‘Lunch’.

Following her comments made about lack of sustainability in the vinyl world, Eilish has since confirmed the physical copies of ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ will be made using 100 per cent recyclable materials. You can find out about the tracklist here and pre-order the album here.

In other news, Eilish has opened up about her appearance at Lana Del Rey’s Coachella headline set, calling it a “hallucination”.
