ith summer inching closer and the fashion mood adjusting to the vibe, it’s safe to say it’s going to be a mermaid-core type of season. We saw this last week as the stars served various renditions on and off the red carpet. First, the Little Mermaid premiere kicked off in Los Angeles and celebs strutted (or perhaps, swam) to the occasion in ethereal mermaid-themed ensembles. While many are pretty much stoked about watching a Black little mermaid with locs, the press rounds’ ensembles were equally impressive.

No doubt, the week had its fair share of movie premieres but let’s not forget Queen Bey’s Stockholm performance on the opening night of the Renaissance World Tour. Beyoncé gave eclectic and stylish as she serially rendered masterpieces in the forms of songs and garments. Woosh!

The looks

From a mermaid-core David Koma peplum fit to the shiny metallics of Loewe, Beyoncé reminded us that this is her internet and we’re only paying for space. Last week, the star girl returned to the stage, and we can all reckon there will be lots of iconic sartorial moments to remember. For one, the custom Loewe embellished bodysuit with strategically-placed hand prints was a notable standout. The look definitely served up fashion baddie energy on a platter. I suggest we stock up on our popcorn and dancing shoes; if Queen B is outside, we all are.

Speaking of queens, Golda Rosheuvel, aka Queen Charlotte, has shown that royalty isn’t just a role she played, but her daily reality. The actress showed up in a black and silver Carolina Herera dress for the Bafta TV awards, and breathtaking doesn’t begin to cut it. The star opted for a sheer black number with an embellished bodice that oozed an unmissable air of grandeur. Apart from requiring deets on her skincare routine, there’s a thing or two to learn from her style.

And, of course, the lady of the moment Halle Bailey was on a serial slay last week. We know the actress’ face card never declines, and her style always comes correct. For the premiere of The Little Mermaid, Bailey opted for a gorgeous Valdri Sahiti number with shell designs with an aqua texture. The on-theme ensemble was perfection at its shiniest.
