he past week dispatched an army of sartorial soldiers from the award season’s arsenal. These ready celebrities fired hard shots at the fashion ground and set it on fire. From movie premieres to upbeat engagements, the stars came loaded, showing no signs of retreating. It all climaxed at the weekend that proved to be a red carpet rendezvous with the 55th NAACP Image Awards sitting on the gen of affairs. Elite Hollywood celebs swayed in non-conforming attire to honor invitations that spoke of their career accomplishments. In all, the best looks from last week were the crème de la crème shooting their shots in a language called fashion, with styles hitting in symphony.
The Looks
Taraji P. Henson stood out in a yellow Delcore dress with a structured swirl on the bodice at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards. Created by Abstract Three, the number was both statement-making and elegant. The designer calls this design “waterfalls on pale yellow” while describing the embellishments sprinkled on the elaborate flap detail. Plus, the train portrayed Mermaidcore in a bright light and added a sweet feminine feel to the look.
Sheryl Lee Ralph leaned into a soft sheer bejeweled Georges Hobeika dress for the 2024 NAACP Awards. From the see-through skirt to the asymmetric mini cape, the offering brought a bold regal touch to the event. Meanwhile, Kerry Washington continued the green party at the same event in a stunning Vivienne Westwood number. The dress draped nicely at the bodice and boasted a beguiling cape that gave a Disney-princess aura. A proud green moment for the two.
Keri Wilson chose to pose in a blinged-up Fashion Nova suit for her “The R&B Money” tour. Then, she opted for complementary black embellished Téjahn Burnett pumps for a head-to-toe sparkle moment. The suit stayed true to her frame, and her short bob hairstyle supported the ensemble with enough finesse. Keke Palmer also took the SUITable route. She showed out in a Tom Ford x Dolce & Gabanna look like she was fresh out of a Great Gatsby party. A breath of fresh air on the carpet.
