Netflix confirmed today (August 29) that the actor (Saltburn, The Banshees Of Inisherin, The Batman) will appear in the new movie alongside Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson.

It is not yet known what character Keoghan will play. Check out the official announcement post below.

The upcoming film – described as an “epic continuation of the multi-award-winning gangster saga” – was penned by Peaky Blinders creator/writer Steven Knight. It’ll be helmed by Tom Harper, who directed several episodes of the TV show’s first season.

Knight revealed in an interview with NME this April that filming for the Peaky Blinders movie would begin in September.

He explained: “I’m just doing the final polishes, which will continue up until the day before we start shooting. But we’re there. We’ve got everything sorted, we’ve got all the commitments we need, we are ready to go.”

As for what fans can expect from the feature-length project, Knight told NME: “I think the film is gonna be a step up again, and it’s gonna be great that Peaky fans can meet in one place and watch it.

“The budget will be bigger, but also because we know we’re ending this chapter, we’re all going to try to do our best. Cillian [Murphy] is really up for it. So I can’t wait for it to start shooting.”

Speaking to Deadline in June, Murphy said: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”

Plot details for the as-yet-untiled movie currently remain tightly under wraps. No other cast members have been confirmed.

The sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders aired on BBC One in 2022.
