Ariana Madix‘s makeup artist and friend, Jared Lipscomb, appeared on a recent episode of Kristen Doute‘s podcast, where he revealed how Tom Sandoval reacted to being called out for the offensive cancer joke he made on Howie Mandel‘s podcast.

After Jared blasted the Vanderpump Rules star as “scum” for agreeing with Howie that “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” joking that the concept was “like radiation,” Jared, who went through a battle with leukemia, shared the text Sandoval sent him in response.

“I woke up after my video … got picked up by a few outlets. It was like, ‘Ariana Madix’s Makeup Artist Pops Off on Cancer Joke.’ I didn’t say anything. He responded to me,” Jared revealed on Sex, Love, and What Else Matters, as heard in a clip shared by Rate By Bravo on Instagram on April 26.

In a video shared to his Instagram page, Jared slammed Sandoval as a “f-cking coward.”

“How dare he?” Jared asked on April 12. “I don’t care if it’s a joke in poor taste, f-ck you. You are a coward. You are weak, and to compare what people go through in radiation during treatment [to Scandoval]? F-ck you, you coward. You are scum.”

The following morning, Jared woke up to a text message from his former friend, which he shared with Kristen and her listeners.

“I woke up the next morning. ‘Jared, I absolutely did not mean to offend you or anyone else for that matter.’ So we’re starting off with just no apology,” Jared explained.

Instead, Sandoval denied joking about cancer.

“‘That was not a joke about cancer. I’ve lost family members to cancer. I’ve been nothing but supportive through your battle and journey. Have I not?’” Jared continued of what Sandoval wrote. “‘It was simply giving an example where what doesn’t kill you makes you strong song doesn’t apply. This is also why we can’t travel to outer space or live on the moon. It’s too much radiation.’”

Sandoval preceded to ask Jared to give him the “benefit of the doubt,” saying that Jared knows him “a little better than that.”

“Hope you’re doing well,” Sandoval reportedly ended his message, along with a heart emoji.

But, in response, Jared said, “I have never blocked someone so fast.”

As Pump Rules fans will recall, Sandoval’s interview with Howie was quite controversial. Not only did he claim Ariana threatened and hit him when he attempted to end their relationship, he also gushed over his “magnetic” first kiss with Raquel Leviss, who he cheated on Ariana for months with.

Vanderpump Rules season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
