The Caribbean is the destination of choice when you want a laid-back beach holiday. However, the most popular Caribbean destinations so far have been Dominica, Cuba, St. Lucia, and the Bahamas.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines—an island nation consisting of 32 islands and cays—has not been one of the more popular Caribbean destinations. However, in 2023, approximately 394,000 international tourists visited this island, an 89% jump from the year before.
New Resorts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines
One of the main reasons why this destination is seeing an increase in tourists is because new resorts have recently opened here. One is the Sandals St. Vincent which opened in March 2024; it is located in a private cove, surrounded by forests and a river. Here, you’ll find 11 dining options, 9 bars and a number of pools and activities. There’s also the Mandarin Oriental which opened in September 2024. Earlier, it was operating under a different name—the Pink Sands Club. This hotel features upscale, beachfront accommodations, fine dining, a spa and a golf course.
New Air Routes to St. Vincent and the Grenadines
As a result of the surge in interest in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, American Airlines has recently unveiled new routes to this island nation. One is from Charlotte, NC to St. Vincent, and the other is from New York, NY to St. Vincent.
Both routes run non-stop from their starting points to their destination. You can hop on these flights once a week, on Saturdays, on a Boeing 737 and reach St. Vincent in a mere 4 hours 30 minutes from Charlotte/4 hours 45 minutes from NYC.

From Chicago, the rates are a little higher, at $490 to Montego Bay. From Miami, you can get a round-trip ticket to Punta Cana for $423. So if you’ve been thinking about taking a trip to the Caribbean for a while, now is the time to put your plan into action.
