If you’re eager to discover a unique natural experience off the beaten tourist path, we have some valuable tips for your day trip to the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint with breathtaking panoramas and the Andaman Sea right at your feet.
Day Trip from Phuket – Discover the beautiful Samet Nangshe Viewpoint
The Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is a must-see in Phang Nga that you shouldn’t miss and is perfect as a half-day tour from holiday destinations like Phuket or Khao Lak. With our tips, we want to help you visit this dreamy place off the beaten path.
How to get to the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint
There are several ways to get to the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint. You can either drive yourself by car or scooter via Route 402 from Phuket and then continue on Highway 4, or you can opt for organized transportation or a taxi if you don’t want to drive yourself. Google Maps works excellently here, as you’ll need to turn off Highway 4 and drive through smaller villages before you arrive.
The Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is located in a scenic area that is difficult to access by public transportation – especially for tourists. Having your own mode of transportation is definitely the most convenient way to quickly and comfortably reach the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint. Alternatively, you can also take a bus from Phuket to Phang Nga and then continue with a private taxi, etc.
Moreover, there’s also the option to travel to the viewpoint with an organized excursion from other places like Phang Nga or Krabi. The journey offers a relaxed and scenic travel option where you can enjoy the beautiful landscape on the way to the viewpoint. Tickets for the trip to the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint can be found from various local providers or online.

Arrival at the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint Parking Lot
Once you’ve completed the drive, you’ll arrive at a parking lot where you can park your car or scooter for free. There are a few souvenir shops, places to buy drinks, and also a restroom. From here, you can make your way to the viewpoint. There are two ways to get there and two different entrance fees (see next section).
Opening Hours and Admission
The Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is open daily from around 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. So, you can visit both at sunrise and sunset to admire the scenery. Admission is currently 30 baht per person if you want to walk up from the parking lot. The ascent then takes a good 15 minutes. If you take a pick-up truck up the hill and then back down, the round trip costs 90 baht per person. Using your own vehicle is not allowed, see the sign in the previous photo.
The Samet Nangshe Viewpoint
At the viewpoint during our visit, there were already quite a few people. But since the area is large, it spreads out well, and you can gradually use all the photo opportunities available on-site. From small platforms to signs of Samet Nangshe or even hearts where you can sit inside – there are plenty of options for a popular Instagram photo.
You can also relax in the available seating to enjoy the wonderful view, rather than just walking around and taking photos. There’s no time limit. The pick-up trucks depart every few minutes to go back down. Since you probably won’t come here often in your life, take your time to soak in the fantastic view of Samet Nangshe over the Andaman Sea in Phang Nga Bay and the limestone cliffs. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful viewpoints we’ve visited in Thailand.
The Surroundings at the Viewpoint
Apart from the view from the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint, there isn’t much to do on the hill. You’ll find a few small, very basic bungalows that you can rent on site. There’s even a small terrace where you can enjoy the view. This way, you’d be more or less alone at the viewpoint in the early morning and late evening.
Furthermore, there’s the Samet Nangshe Restaurant and also a small café that you can visit. So, food and drinks are also taken care of. However, we would advise you, especially if you’re walking to the viewpoint, to have enough water with you. The heat in Thailand and the physical exertion should definitely not be underestimated.
