If there’s a word that perfectly encapsulates the celebrity fashion offerings of last week, it’s got to be “satisfying.” Although the streets were quiet, save for events like the “Blink Twice” movie premiere in Los Angeles, the stars managed to satiate our style cravings with outfits that spoke volumes. From unusual cuts to alluring fits, Black celebs were bold with colors, cuts, and silhouettes that were as pleasing as they were breathtaking.
The Looks
As ubiquitous as cut-out dresses have become, they still haven’t lost their flair. For instance, Jordyn Woods got bodied in a white Azazie corset dress with a high slit while Zoe Kravitz took a go in a black Saint Laurent number for the “Blink Twice” premiere. The dresses are different but united on the altar of daring expressions. Indeed, a chic cut-out dress serves both on- and off-duty purposes.
Despite the heat across the world, South Africa’s weather chose the snow. But this was no hurdle that Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts couldn’t cross. She was chilly-weather ready in leather pants set by David Tlale, boldly finished with chunky boots. Meanwhile, Ciara was in full-on high-performance mode in a sexy leather ensemble, giving another nod to rocking leather this season. Host with the most, Bonang Matheba was on a slay mission at the Miss South Africa 2024. She donned sculptural and artsy designs from Nigerian designers like Veekee James and Somo. From halo hair accessories paired with gold-fringe outfits to silver feathers swung to perfection, ethereal swirls woven into metallic embellishments, and quilts overflowing with bold rosette details, everything ostentatious entered the group chat and nothing was left unexplored.
