The pop artist and her band played a live rendition of the London outfit’s 2023 breakout single on The Kelly Clarkson Show as part of the ‘Kellyoke’ segment.

Clarkson remained faithful to the original track, but she did put a PG spin on the explicit chorus. “And you can hold me like he held her/ And I will love you like nothing matters,” she sang.

The Last Dinner Party later expressed their approval in the YouTube comments section, where they shared a series of emojis including a white heart symbol. They also posted a clip of the cover on their Instagram Stories.

In February, Sophie Ellis-Bextor played a live version of the song during an appearance in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

The ‘Kellyoke’ series has previously seen Clarkson take on classic tracks by the likes of Weezer, U2, Arctic Monkeys and The Smiths. At the start of this year, she teamed up with Kelsey Grammer for a collaborative rendition of the Frasier theme tune.

In other news, The Last Dinner Party recently revealed they had started working on their second studio album.

Their first record ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’ – on which ‘Nothing Matters’ features – was released in February. It subsequently became the biggest UK Number One debut album in nine years. Last month, NME listed the LP as one of the 10 best debut albums of 2024 so far.
