A new update to Elden Ring has finally fixed a problem that’s been annoying fans since the game first launched.

Elden Ring expansion Shadow Of The Erdtree releases today (June 21) and to get the game ready, FromSoftware shared a new 1.12 update yesterday – check out the full patch notes here.

As well as introducing a number of new hairstyles, expanded summoning capabilities and a range of inventory features, the update has also fixed an annoying issue known as the Flashbang.

When booting up the game, the Bandai Namco logo appears on the screen. However, the white background would often take players by surprise, especially because it was sandwiched between the black backgrounds of FromSoftware and Elden Ring. The Flashbang and has been a source of ire for Elden Ring fans for months now.

The new update has changed the white background to a black one, and fans are stoked.

“The new Elden Ring patch just dropped in prep for the DLC, and the absolute craziest change is that they changed the Bandai Namco Logo so it doesn’t blind you,” wrote one fan. “They patched out the Elden Ring Flashbang!”

“The flashbang of Elden Ring has been disarmed,” added another X user.

The new update also allows players to summon the Torrent mount during the final boss battle.

However, FromSoftware has warned fans that the new update may cause issues for Steam Deck players if they leave the game inactive for too long. A hotfix is currently being worked on.

Despite gearing up to release the expansive Shadow Of The Erdtree, FromSoftware has also been busy hinting that a sequel could be in the works.

Shadow Of The Erdtree is the first and last expansion to Elden Ring. But, according to FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game has been left deliberately open-ended. “We don’t want to say this is the end of the saga for now,” he explained. “We don’t want to discourage the possibilities for that. There might be more ideas in the future,” he added.
