Janelle Monáe has shared that she relies on vibrations in her pubic hairs to help decide whether a movie is right for her.

The Hidden Figures star spoke about her reasons behind taking certain roles in a recent reader interview article in The Guardian.

When asked what attracts her to particular roles and movies, the ‘Make Me Feel’ singer shared that there are a few contributing reasons. “The story is a big one,” she explained. “Also the set: I love places that have snacks like Skittles and M&Ms on set!”

However, the Moonlight actor described the other way she can tell if a role is the right fit for her: “I really have to feel it in my pubic hairs – they have to vibrate!”

Speaking on her reaction to her role in 2022’s Knives Out sequel, the actor said: “My underarm hairs definitely tingled when I got the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery script.”

She continued: “That was exciting, to go to Greece and work with [director] Rian Johnson, who is a wonderful human.”

However, Monáe expanded on her unique premonition, saying: “Though I don’t want anyone to go back to my old films and think: ‘Janelle Monáe picked this because her pubic hairs tingled.’”

She continued to celebrate the Knives Out franchise, mentioning the upcoming third instalment, officially titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

“I’m so excited for Knives Out 3,” Monáe shared. “I want to be a part of it so badly that I might get plastic surgery and audition as a brand new character.”

Already on the star-studded cast list is Challengers star Josh O’Connor, alongside Ripley’s Andrew Scott and Priscilla star Cailee Spaeny. Also joining the film, which will see Daniel Craig return as private investigator Benoit Blanc, are Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis and Jeremy Renner.
