Riot Games has announced a number of new League Of Legends bundles designed to let players “flex their fandom”, with one costing close to £400.
To celebrate League Of Legends player Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok being inducted into the game’s Hall Of Fame, Riot has released a number of collaborative bundles.
“Faker is more than the winningest player in League history: he’s the face of his sport,” reads a dedicated blog. “His journey, full of triumph and trials, resilience and glory, has touched the hearts of millions of fans and fellow players.”
“This year, we collaborated with Faker to offer something for everyone: an event pass chronicling his career plus three Ahri Collections with all-new features—from unique takedown counters to tower finishers—for the most ardent fans.”

The Risen Legend Collection bundle costs 5430RP (around £40) and includes the Hall Of Legends Pass, which will allow players to “relive Faker’s career highlights through 100 levels of unlockable rewards including commemorative skins, icons, and a special callback to the champ that helped start it all.” It also features a unique taunt, an icon, an emote, a banner and a special Ahri.
League Of Legends is also selling the Immortalized Legend Collection for 32430RP (roughly £320) and the Signature Immortalized Legend Collection for 59260 RP (around £400), both of which include a variety of in-game aesthetics. As you might expect, fans aren’t exactly stoked about the cost of the bundles.

“The most expensive skin in celebration of a player who almost never used one,” says one Reddit comment. “Of course Riot doesn’t give a flying f about Faker or the players. They only care about money,” said another with others calling it “scummy” and “genuinely embarrassing”.
In a FAQ section on their website talking about the pricing, Riot explained: “Whether you’re a new fan, a long-term diehard, or just want to join the celebration, we thought it essential for there to be something for you—and for everyone—as we celebrate our first Hall of Legends inductee.”
“For the more casual fan, we have some of our most generous bundles to date. For those looking to flex their fandom, the Immortalized Legend Collection and Signature Immortalized Legend Collection include spectacular additions, headlined by the evolving Immortalized Legend Ahri skin. While more expensive, these versions are meant to be highly commemorative, with never-before-implemented features that we can’t wait to see hit the Rift, they continued.”
The controversial collections are due to arrive as part of League of Legends’ Hall Of Legends event, which will run from June 12 to July 8 with more events set to be announced in the coming weeks.
In other news, Valve has said people can’t leave their Steam accounts to others in their will.
