Anthrax singer Joey Belladonna has announced a new tribute band in honour of late metal icon Ronnie James Dio.

This past weekend (May 18), Belladonna took to social media to announce that he and his wife Krista have formed a new Dio tribute band, and will be performing four shows in August.

Over the course of the tribute concerts, the tribute band will play music from the late Dio’s solo career and his stints in Black Sabbath and Rainbow. According to Belladonna’s official website, the concerts will see Belladonna tackle Dio’s most iconic releases including ‘Holy Diver’, ‘Rainbow In The Dark’, ‘Heaven And Hell’, ‘Neon Knights’ and more.

All four of Belladonna’s Dio tribute concerts are due to take place in various cities across Florida.

Tickets to Joey Belladonna’s Ronnie James Dio tribute concerts will go on sale soon via his official website.

The legendary Dio died in 2010 following a battle with stomach cancer. Dio’s career spanned a 50-year period from the 1950’s to the early 2000s. Dio served as the frontman for a number of groups including Black Sabbath – when he replaced frontman Ozzy Osborne in 1979 – Elf, Rainbow, Dio and Heaven and Hell.

On the Anthrax front, the band – hailed as one of the Big Four of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth – formed in 1981 and have released 11 studio albums to date, with their most recent record being 2016’s ‘For All Kings’.
