Singer also formally announces new album Everything I Thought I Was with Benicio Del Toro-narrated trailer
After spending the past week teasing a new album, Justin Timberlake returned to the stage Friday with a small hometown gig in Memphis, where the singer debuted a new song called “Selfish.”
The track — not to be confused with “Selfish” by Timberlake’s former group NSync — is believed to be the first single from the upcoming album Everything I Thought It Was, which Timberlake had been teasing over social media the week prior to the “One Night Only” Orpheum Theater gig.
Following the show, Timberlake formally announced the album with a teaser trailer narrated by actor Benicio Del Toro. In the 30-second clip, Timberlake is shown standing back to the camera above a model of a gas station alone in the desert, with a painted sunset off in the distance. “What the fuck is he staring at?,” Del Toro wonders in his voiceover.
Timberlake also shared a short snippet of the studio version of “Selfish” on his TikTok account:

The full version of “Selfish” — and likely more details about Everything I Thought It Was — will presumably emerge in the coming week as Timberlake is booked to appear on both The Tonight Show on Thursday ahead of his return to Saturday Night Live two days later.
Timberlake last released his Man of the Woods back in February 2018; the nearly six-year wait between albums marks the longest in the singer’s career since the seven-year gap between 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds and 2013’s The 20/20 Experience.
