n the days that led up to the end of 2023, we witnessed a slow-paced Lagos with well-rested individuals who temporarily hung their boots on work but went all out RSVPing and slaying at end-of-the-year events. Although matching PJs were the prominent option for the I’m-staying-at-home girlies, those who ventured outside brought it hard in embellished, embroidered, and textured ensembles that made lasting statements.

Check out the festive looks spotted on Lagos baddies for their end-of-the-year slay…

#1. Sheer cut-outs

Actress Sharon Ooja wore a black cutout Udiaghebi dress with sheer sleeves, a white detachable collar, and a train. She paired this with black pumps, pearl earrings, a chic side part hairstyle, and red lipstick that all synced to form a poised look suitable for any red carpet event. Black, white, and a touch of red will always remain a total serve.

#2. Embellished abstracts

Owning this cross-seasonal print in the form of a bodycon dress, pant set, or accessories is a fun way to switch up any look. Fashion influencer Chioma Ikokwu wore an Onalaja hand-beaded abstract print number that played up her frame. The turtleneck and mesh fabric were a plus for this easy-to-wear dress. Slip into a stretch dress free of zips and buttons, and save dress-up time without compromising style.

#3. Lacy gold

If you’ve never seen a tall glass of luxe champagne in human form, Mabel Makun is a worthy pictorial depiction. The entrepreneur leaned into an all-gold look that punched up her complexion. The elaborate headgear and bejeweled fabric was a seamless blend with her embellished sunglasses. This is one of the outstanding festive looks that made the Lagos streets vibrate.

Fashion influencer Chinyere Adogu dazzled in a blue-tiful strapless Miscreants dress with three rows of V-shaped feather details from the waistline to the ankle. The detail added a lively bounce to each stride, with matching feathers tucked into her bun for more oomph. Adogu finished the look with blue strappy heels that effortlessly settled into the conversation.

#5. Kimono wrap

The cue must have been comfortable and chic because this blue Kimono wrap dress passed the vibe check. Nigerian journalist Lola Ogunnaike attended an art event in Lagos in a blue kimono number ruched at the waistline and accentuated with bold gold accessories. This frock allows for ease of movement, and if you’re going to be dancing all night long, it’s an easy hit for all your moves.

#6. Green tiers

For the Malaika movie premiere, Sharon Ooja showed up in a halterneck tiered-hem midi dress that unapologetically stole the show. Thanks to this number, it’s clear that green and silver accents, when amalgamated, are a match made in fashion heaven. The deep neckline and snatched waistline further added to the appeal of the dress.

#7. A dapper jumpsuit

A simple white-and-black jumpsuit is a wardrobe must-have. With a wide-leg hem and creatively stitched bodice, you score extra points. Content creator Ariyiike Owolagba posed for the Gram in a black-and-white jumpsuit by The Glammaniac. The white top wrapped into the black wide-hem pants created a figure-accentuating effect. Owolagba styled the look with understated jewelry and a ruched mini bag with a beaded handle. This is an apt semi-formal wedding guest look for days you’d rather ditch a dress.
