The new single arrives ahead of her feature documentary film Cypher

Tierra Whack doesn’t need a vehicle to go through the car wash or a massive audience to open up the mosh pit in the music video for her latest single “Chanel Pit.” The record, released Tuesday afternoon, taps into an earlier vein of the rapper’s discography as she boasts: “I don’t play fair well/I don’t like to show, you might tell/What is that shit I smell?/I am that shit you smell.”

The rapper dropped the song on Tuesday afternoon alongside the Alex Lill-directed visual. The clip runs through the song while she runs through the wash cycle. She eases up on the soap and suds, but gets polished and dried with industrial precision in the end.

The single marks Whack’s first official release in nearly two years as fans eagerly anticipate the follow-up to her 2018 debut Whack World, supposedly set for release in 2024.

“Chanel Pit” arrives ahead of the premiere of Cypher, Whack’s fittingly bizarre feature film out on Hulu and in select theaters on Nov. 24. The film is positioned as a documentary chronicling her rise to fame, but is also rooted in feelings of paranoia born from a lack of control.

“Tierra Whack rose to fame rapping on a Philadelphia Street for a YouTube channel,” a synopsis for the documentary reads. “Years later, while documenting her astronomical rise, questions arise about who is filming whom and whether being seen is a desirable and unavoidable part of fame.”

Later this week, Whack will appear in conversation with Lil Yachty at the first-ever live installment of Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians franchise.
