A while back, we were following the news that YouTube wanted to host games on the site. Called Playables, these are miniature games that people could play on the site. Well, according to Engadget, YouTube is currently testing out Playables with some users.

People are mostly on YouTube to watch videos. But, when they get bored, they move on to another activity on another service. This is something that YouTube wants to change with Playables. These will be simple and casual games that people can play on the YouTube platform. This might seem similar to what Netflix is planning on doing, however, it might not be as robust as that.

YouTube is testing out Playables among users

At the moment, we’re not sure when YouTube is going to push this to the public, but some lucky users will be able to try this out. YouTube is testing Playables on a limited selection of users at the moment. The test isn’t exactly widespread, so chances are that you won’t be able to see them.

To tell if you’re part of the test, go to the YouTube website or on the mobile app. When you’re there, look for a tab called “Playables”. If you see the tab, then you’re a part of the test.

Since this is a limited test, there won’t be much in the way of playable games. Right now, it seems that the only game available is Stack Bounce. You probably won’t know the game by its name, but you’ve undoubtedly seen gameplay of this app or clones in countless ads. Just look at the gameplay.

As for the rest of us, we’re going to be in the dark about what games are slated to come to Playables. What we can expect is a slew of simple mobile games like Stack Bounce and others at first. We don’t know if the company will start offering more ambitious games on the platform down the road.
