Meredith Marks reacted to backlash over renting her homes, shared friendship updates with Lisa Barlow and Jen Shah, and addressed whether castmate Monica Garcia is a ‘bone carrier.’
On the season 4 premiere of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Whitney Rose shaded Meredith for renting four different homes since 2020 – amid their fight over Whitney’s previous comments about Meredith’s bathtub habits with husband Seth.
In an interview with TODAY, Meredith addressed the criticism concerning her choice to rent.
“I don’t care. What’s wrong with that?” she said. “So what, I rent luxury homes and live a beautiful life, so great.”
Last year, Meredith shared on Watch What Happens Live, via BravoTV.com, “In terms of affording a house, we are living a lifestyle that we are actually spending a lot more money than it would cost us to buy a house because it’s what my choice is, to figure out what we want to do right now … We’re empty nesters for the first time.”
Addressing her relationship with Lisa in season 4, Meredith told TODAY, “There’s always going to be bumps in any relationship. Nothing is ever perfectly smooth sailing. I can say that we were in a better space than we were the year prior.”
When asked if she’s heard from Jen, who’s currently in prison, Meredith answered, “I have not heard from Jen herself. I’ve had messages through other people Jen’s in touch with coming to me.”
Meredith claimed she “did not know” Monica was a witness in Jen’s case, prior to meeting her.
“I knew very little about Monica to be quite honest. Prior to the show, I knew that she was Jen’s assistant, and I had never met her. I had one conversation with her once when Lisa was upset about something and called me and tried to conference Jen. Monica answered the phone and said she was taking notes for Jen. It was unusual,” said Meredith.
The ‘OG’ claimed, however, that Monica isn’t 100% a ‘bone carrier.’
“To some extent, yes. And to another, maybe not so much. Part of this, too, and this is an inherent issue with not just Monica, but a lot of women on the cast, is that they sit there and they love to try to discredit Jen based on her actions. That’s fine if that’s what you choose to do, but then you can’t flip the switch and your next statement is: ‘Well, Jen told me that.’ Because if you don’t want to believe the stuff that you don’t want to believe, you can’t give credit to the stuff that you do want to believe,” she said.
Meredith also shared her biggest takeaway from season 4: “When people show you who they are, just accept it and move on. Note it, and move on.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 4 airs Tuesdays on Bravo at 9 p.m. ET.
