Ken Todd is being sued by the manager of the property where his recently-shuttered restaurant, PUMP Restaurant Lounge, was located.
As her husband stands accused of failing to pay off the lease for the space, where PUMP first opened in 2013, Vanderpump Rules star and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Vanderpump is celebrating after being included in Forbes’ prestigious 50 Over 50 list.
“Thank you [Forbes]! At least there’s some benefit to getting older,” Lisa wrote in the caption of an Instagram post on August 3, which featured a screenshot of Forbes’ article on her.
In Forbes‘ article, it was noted that Lisa was an original cast member of RHOBH, having starred on the series for nine seasons from 2010 to 2019. The article also noted that she’s been featured on two spinoffs, including Pump Rules, which began airing in 2013, and Vanderpump Dogs, which was launched in 2021.
It was also noted that Hulu recently made a deal to stream 10 episodes of Vanderpump Villa, a reality show based out of her home in Beverly Hills, Villa Rosa.
In addition to that, Lisa was praised for her lifestyle blog, line of alcoholic beverages, homewares line, and pet accessories line, Vanderpump Pets, as well as her charitable and philanthropic work.
Although Lisa certainly has a lot to be proud of, her husband has his hands full with a new lawsuit.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast on August 2, Ken owes more than $250,000 in back rent, and his former landlord wants to collect what he is owed.
In the property manager’s legal paperwork, it was noted that a deal was made with Ken to have PUMP “take occupancy of the Premises for purposes of operating a bar and restaurant for a base rent of $42,500” in 2013, and the venue “continued to occupy the Premises until on or about July 13, 2023, at which date PUMP surrendered possession of the premises.”
The documents went on to state that the $250,000 in back rent for PUMP does not include late fees and other expenses, and they noted that the property manager is asking for $950,000 in damages. It also accused Ken of refusing to hand over the venue’s liquor license, which is valued at $150,000.
As RHOBH fans may know, the closure of PUMP came as Lisa, who was not named in the landlord’s case, and Ken faced a series of legal and financial problems, including a reportedly suspended liquor license.
“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that the lease at Pump Restaurant is expiring, and we will be closing its doors on July 5th, after 10 years of beautiful evenings under our olive trees,” Lisa and Ken said in a statement about the end of the road for PUMP.
They went on to say that while they loved managing the restaurant, they were unwilling to renew their lease on the property due to a “huge increase in rent.”
“We’re also currently expanding our empire and will be opening two more restaurants with Caesars Palace,” they explained.
Vanderpump Rules season 11 is currently in production and expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year or early next year.
