Summer Game Fest kicked off yesterday and one of the game reveals for a previously unannounced game was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The announcement during the June 8 livestream also revealed a release date.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be landing on multiple platforms on January 18, 2024. When it releases it’ll be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, and Amazon Luna. And while not mentioned, with the recent announcement about Ubisoft Connect account linking in GeForce NOW, chances are you’ll be able to stream it through NVIDIA’s service as well.

The Lost Crown will be a 2.5D metroidvania-style action platformer. Which seems to have drawn the ire of some of the series’ fans in the comment section of the announcement trailer on YouTube. It’s not the Sands of Time Remake that was announced back in 2020. Which has now been rebooted and is back in the concept stage. But it does look like an exciting entry in the series.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will make an appearance at Ubisoft Forward

There was a brief but sizeable amount of gameplay shown off in the reveal trailer. But Ubisoft assures players that more is coming. The studio says the game will be shown off in more detail at its Ubisoft Forward livestream event happening on June 12.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can view it above. There’s lots of acrobatic, fast-paced movement. As well as some cool-looking combat and boss battles. Gameplay overall looks really fluid, too. There’s no word yet on price point. But for a bigger franchise, don’t be shocked to see a $70 sticker price. Though it’s probably just as likely the price will sit around $50. Perhaps Ubisoft will share that information next week.
