Sanya Richards-Ross is opening up about the “explosive” 15th season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and what she learned from her debut season.

As she looked back on her first set of episodes, Sanya revealed her most challenging co-star and said that she’s gotten extremely close to Kandi Burruss in recent months, even vacationing with her and her family at Disney World, and explained what she admires about her.

“Kandi is the G.O.A.T. when it comes to being smart and strategic,” Sanya told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on May 26. “Everything she does fits her brand. I try to do the same thing.”

As for her most challenging cast mate, Sanya named Kenya Moore. However, she also said, “deep down, [she] has a great heart.”

“She can be intimidating if you disagree with her,” she said. “She’s quite the wordsmith. Of all the girls, she will read you for real.”

There’s been plenty of drama on the RHOA thus far. And according to Sanya,” there are more “explosive” moments on the way.

“This season is a lot of fun but very explosive,” she teased.

Reflecting on her first season on the show, Sanya admitted that she went into filming with expectations.

“You have all these expectations in your head going in,” she explained. “Then it ends up being completely different … You get to learn about yourself,” she said. “You see how you’re relating with other people and how other people see it. I like that part of the experience.”

“I did have a lot of fun. But I feel so much better [during my second season],” Sanya continued, “especially because I was really able to build real, meaningful relationships with the girls. I had real skin in the game. I am able to show more of my personality.”

Sanya said it feels like she and her co-stars “have really settled in” amid season 15.

“I feel like I’m fitting into the group … I’ve learned now to just say it,” she shared. “I don’t have to sound perfect. I say how I feel a lot more this year. And it’s easier to express yourself when you know the people better.”
