Julie Chrisley is “not doing well” amid her seven-year prison term in Lexington, Kentucky.

According to a new report, the 50-year-old Chrisley Knows Best star has “broken down” behind bars as she reportedly faces regret over what she and her husband, Todd Chrisley, 54, “did in the name of fame and money.”

“She has broken down. She is not doing well at all,” a source told Daily Mail on May 9. “She cannot fathom how she will spend years being locked up and feels that she let her family down.”

‘Todd assured her that they would not go to jail, and now Julie regrets what she did in the name of fame,” they continued.

As Julie allegedly loses hope for a successful appeal of their reported $30 million case, she reportedly feels Todd, who is currently serving a 12-year sentence in Pensacola, Florida, “[pushed] her into” committing crimes, including bank fraud, tax evasion, and wire fraud.

“She is losing faith that they will get this overturned, and she is so sad. It is heartbreaking,” the insider shared.

Speaking out about her mother’s time behind bars on a recent episode of her podcast, Savannah Chrisley, 25, said Julie is “scared” but staying busy by “taking classes.”

During one prison visit, Julie gave Savannah “30 to 40 days worth of letters,” which Savannah said was “like her daily diary.”

“It was a lot to read, it was tough to see the accounts of her day and just things that she’s scared of or nervous about or just all the thoughts that go through her mind,” Savannah shared, adding that she believes Julie tried to “shield” her family “from a lot of things” regarding their legal drama to protect them.

Julie and Todd also share sons Chase Chrisley, 26, and Grayson Chrisley, 16, and Todd has two older children, daughter Lindsie Chrisley, 33, and son Kyle Chrisley, 31, from his relationship with ex-wife Teresa Terry.

Julie and Todd even had custody of Kyle’s daughter Chloe, 10, who he welcomed with ex-girlfriend Angela Johnson, but after they received their sentences, custody was given to Savannah.

“It’s hard,” Savannah admitted of caring for brother and niece, especially while “trying to date.”

“I’m like, “What do you do with them?”‘ she shared. ‘The 16-year-old, he drives and all that, but the 10-year-old I’m like, “You gotta maybe come have dinner with me.”‘

During a January 5 episode of her and Todd’s former podcast, Chrisley Confessions, Julie shared positive thoughts about her then-impending prison stint.

“I think it puts things into perspective for me because we all think our hard is the hardest thing,” she said. “It has been such a source of strength for me because I have not typically been a crier, and this whole experience has truly taken me to my knees. There is that possibility of my husband and I being separated. But there’s a difference between my husband and I being separated for a period of time and having to say goodbye forever.”

In addition to their time behind bars, Julie and Todd were sentenced to 16 months of probation.
