Back in the day, shapewear didn’t garner this level of attention. They were for the savvy few who felt the need to maintain an hourglass figure, while the vast majority of women were oblivious to the transformative effect of this wardrobe essential, especially after childbirth. Well, those days are long gone and shapewear for women has gone mainstream. But do you really need to consider them if you’re still sitting on the fence?

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you ask), there was no snap-back trend to motivate you when the bulge began to appear, and the need to be a yummy mummy wasn’t so much of a big deal. But fast forward to 2023, and it’s become public knowledge that you can get the body you desire, albeit for a few hours a day, only if you’d embrace the miracle of the shapewear.

No jokes, shapewear is the perfect outfit saver as they enable you to rock almost any outfit without getting anxious about your body. Therefore, stocking up on different types of shapewear is a step in the right direction. Plus, with several varieties today, there’s certainly one, two, or five shapewear(s) that will work for your body type.

At this point, it’s important to note that advocating for frame-defining underwear is by no means a throw at #bodylove. Certainly not! As a matter of fact, I dare say that it’s an act of self-care to want to look and feel your best. Plus, remember that even slimmer ladies often call on the magic of shapewear to help accentuate their outfits. Simply put, shapewear is an essential part of every woman’s closet regardless of her size.

Check out the SR-approved shapewear you should totally invest in…

#1. Girdles/corsets

Two ends of a coin, girdles and corsets have been the point of call for women looking to max on the sexy vibe. They have become so beloved (and relied on) that entire outfits are made with them in mind, and many even mimic them. If you’re looking to create an hourglass figure by keeping only your waist region in check, then these girls are your best bet.

#2. The bodysuit

You can call the bodysuit shapewear a power control and you wouldn’t be wrong. This piece holds up your body together––thighs, hips, breasts, waist––so well you’d have no need for extra support. No wonder they’ve become a celebrity favorite with stars like Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian spotted in them.

.

#3. Control tights

Yes, I am aware that you are quite familiar with tights/leggings, however, that’s not what I am referring to here. This shapewear, which can be worn as outerwear, is a sexy alternative (particularly the fishnet option) to the trusted leggings/tights as they seductively reveal skin in a see-through and not-so-see-through manner while framing and contouring your hips, butt, and legs without much pressure. If you are one to channel your inner seductress, this is for you.

.

#4. Mid-waist briefs

Few can compete with the mid-waist brief as they can serve as both underwear and beachwear, all the while keeping your waist in check. They come in several colors but the blacks, whites, and nudes are the most popular. Notwithstanding, feel free to select a color you love.

.

#5. Wireless bra

How would you like to get the firm hold of the wired bra, but without those uncomfortable wires? If you are nodding, then the wireless bra is the shapewear you should invest in this 2023. They give your breasts much-needed control without reminding you they’re there. Cool, isn’t it?

.

#6. The long leg

The long-leg shapewear, which runs down the thighs, has upgraded from boring underclothing to a fashion staple. It’s used to control the bulging and jiggling of thighs and provide them with a smooth feel while walking. I bet you’ve observed several celebrities and fashion influencers rocking theirs, so you shouldn’t doubt slipping into one yourself. Think underwear, outerwear, and shapewear rolled into one sexy piece. Meow!

.

#7. Control camisoles

These are shape wears designed as a camisole or tank top and built-in with shaping panels, pads, and/or underwires. Control camisoles minimize flab and lift up the bust.
