ashion is beyond words. It is not just a visual art form, it is a language of its own. It speaks to the world about who we are, what we love, and how we want to be seen. Last week’s fashion scene in Nigeria was a symphony of brilliance and individuality (per usual). Even with Lagos’ renowned bustle energy, celebrities are never carefree enough to head out without touch-ups, even if minimally chic. We saw edgy decorative detailings, flamboyant color choices, and lots of personality bursting through distinctive style takes. If you love a pictorial fashion feast, take a captivating journey through the myriad styles and be inspired for the rest of the week.

The Looks

It’s true, blazers are embodiments of beauty and power. But we hate to admit that these pieces have the propensity to lead a boring life. However, a structured take with character is the real deal and the ultimate go-to for anyone who wants to stand out. Social media comedian Adeaga-Ilori Bukunmi (KieKie), posed for the gram in a dreamy pastel blue tailored peplum blazer and fur skirt by Nigerian brand Accost Collection. The outfit was a true masterpiece, with its perfectly tailored fit, luxurious fur detailing, and stunning color scheme. The silver shoes and the white mini bag used to complement the fit were the right toppings for this yummy mummy.

Slip dresses are my thing, personally. From the moment you ‘slip’ into a slip dress, you’ll feel like a ‘slipping’ beauty (at the expense of sounding cheesy). The way a slip dress effortlessly drapes over the body and accentuates your curves is unmatched by any other type of dress, except a bodycon dress. But while a bodycon dress brings the option of staying glued to your body, slip dresses are a relaxed form—like a second skin. Trust Idia Aisien to bring on an effortless style as she rocked a black Torlowei slip dress with white embroidery on the neckline last week. Two words come to mind: timeless elegance. Stylish Nigerian celebs.

Lagos socialites always have somewhere to be, especially during the weekends. If you’re attending a wedding this week, you should consider wearing a corset gown. They’re all the rave right now. Surely, corset gowns are a great choice for any special event. With its figure-hugging silhouette, the number is designed to enhance a woman’s curves and create a stunning hourglass shape. And when paired with the right accessories, it can boost your confidence level.

One example of a right hit is the oyster-colored Bella NeedlenStitches creation worn by actress Chioma Akpotha. This gorgeous take was adorned with off-the-shoulder leaf details decorated with shimmery golden crystals. The subtle oyster color of the piece is an excellent choice for a formal event. As we already know, the style is in the details.
