According to recent research from JetBlue Vacations, this summer is the season of beaches, and extended stays.
According to a just-published study, Punta Cana is the most popular place for travel combining lodging and airfare into a single price. JetBlue bookings for these types of travel packages have increased 66 percent overall.
The top 10 destinations for combined trips on JetBlue Vacations are:
- Punta Cana
- Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Cancun, Mexico
- Aruba
- Nassau, Bahamas
- Orlando, Florida
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Curaçao
- Fort Lauderdale, Florida
JetBlue Vacations also notes in its study that passengers are not only making more bookings but also staying longer, with the typical bundled trip lasting 6.5 nights. In addition, interest in and searches for package vacations are up 32% from the previous year. The results also show that travelers prefer all-inclusive resorts over stand-alone hotels.
“As we head into the busy summer travel period, we encourage travelers to book early to secure the best deals and availability,” JetBlue Travel Products’ President, Andres Barry, said in a statement.
In addition, travelers have the option to add extras such as theme park tickets or car rentals. Airlines often advertise these deals and explain how you can save by combining these travel packages.
This data is released at the same time as information from other tourism companies predicting a record-breaking summer travel season. Recently, Delta reported that more than 75% of seats on its summer overseas flights were already booked.
Vacation alternatives with customer incentives are also offered by other airlines, such as Delta, United, and Southwest.
